Amy Bohn on Eye on Las Vegas: Why Health Freedom Belongs to Every Family

Amy Bohn on Eye on Las Vegas with Barry Shore

Dear PERK Members,

I recently sat down with Barry Shore, “The Ambassador of Joy,” on the Eye on Las Vegas podcast to talk about what health freedom really means and why it matters to every parent, grandparent, and caregiver. The episode is now live, and I hope you’ll take a listen and share it.

What we talked about

Barry asked me to explain PERK’s work from the ground up. I walked through the five ways we fight for families: litigation, advocacy, action, education, and legislation. Each way is so important to continue realizing success in the world we live in.

We talked about what PERK and our members have accomplished in California: more than 30 protective bills passed, more than 20 harmful bills defeated, and court wins defending parents, first responders, teachers, citizens, and children against COVID-era vaccine mandates.

I also shared a practice in some California schools that every parent should know about. Surveys given to students have been used to refer minors for hormone treatment and puberty blockers without their parents’ knowledge or consent. Parents cannot protect their children from decisions they are never told about. That is another reason why it is so important to use your voice and stay informed.

Why California matters to everyone

Barry and I talked about why California is a warning sign for the rest of the country. What starts here rarely stays here. That is why we keep showing up in Sacramento and in Washington, and why parental rights and the right to make decisions about your own child’s body are not just California issues. They belong to families everywhere.

This is your work too

None of this happens without you. We estimate that PERK members have sent more than 5 million emails to legislators. Every one of those messages tells lawmakers that parents are paying attention. Grassroots pressure is changing outcomes, one bill and one vote at a time.
