URGENT ACTION ALERT UPDATE TO STOP THE PESTICIDE LIABILITY SHIELD IN THE 2026 FARM BILL

Dear PERK Members,

PERK teamed up with Moms Across America and met with Congress representatives in Washington DC. Here’s the update and call to action.

The Farm Bill will be reviewed by the Rules Committee potentially today on Monday or possibly next Monday. This is the committee that determines whether or not amendments to the Farm Bill can be brought the floor of Congress for a vote. We need an amendment to be approved so that it can be voted on. This is where that happens. In order for the dangerous and harmful sections to be amended or removed, that impacts our drinking water, creates a defacto Liability shield, and bans local pesticide restrictions, we must act now.

Here’s What To Do

Call these offices and send an email directly through our link which will then be sent to the Rules Committee. We must be loud and unified. To The MAHA base, to the grassroots of health freedom, and the people who want cleaner food, clean water, soil, and air. We need to stand together and say no to liability shields and harmful provisions. This is what we need to do before the bill goes to the floor for a vote.

Stand up. Take Action. Fight Back. And hold our legislators accountable to we the people who put them in office and remind them they work for us.

Sincerely,

Amy Bohn

PERK President

P.S. For additional information on how the Farm Bill may impact California, see below.

Why is Action Needed Now?

The 2026 Federal Farm Bill draft still contains harmful provisions that will be detrimental to people’s health, by creating dangerous provisions that create liability protection for pesticide manufacturers. This threatens Americans with increased exposure to toxicants without liability for the manufacturers, while simultaneously impeding scientific updates, impacting water quality, and eroding states’ rights.  To understand how liability protections are layered into the draft follow @momsacrossamerica.  Take action now and ask the Rules Committee Members to allow amendments to the Farm Bill which potentially can remove Sections 10205, 10206, & 10207.

  • We need amendments to strike pesticide immunity. (Section 10205)

  • and remove the section that strips states of their right to regulate pesticides within their own states, including California, and localities. (Section 10206)

  • We need amendments to strike (Section 10207) which allows pesticides to override protections for clean water. Impacting state water quality and health.

What You Can Do Now?

Call these members to allow amendments on the farm bill.

1. CALL THE RULES COMMITTEE MEMBERS

2. SEND AN EMAIL to the Rules Committee Here and SEND AN EMAIL to Congress. It will take less than 1 minute. We’ve already pre-drafted a letter for you here.

3. SHARE OUR SOCIAL MEDIA ACTION ALERT HERE.

We must put pressure on our Congress to stand up for the people and our health.

How Does the Farm Bill Potentially Impact California?

The Farm Bill impacts state rights, local municipalities, and can reverse progress counties in California have made to reduce pesticides including glyphosate. This also infringes on our health freedom. The impact on California can include stripping our state and local governments of regulatory authority, preempting California courts from holding chemical companies accountable, and impact the quality of our water by lessening regulations on spraying near bodies of water.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO — NOW

  1. CALL THE RULES COMMITTEE MEMBERS

  2. SEND AN EMAIL TO THE RULES COMMITTEE MEMBERS. It will take less than 1 minute. Here.

  3. SEND AN EMAIL TO CONGRESS BEFORE THE FLOOR VOTE. It will take less than 1 minute. Take action here. We’ve already pre-drafted a letter for you. We’ve been in Washington D.C. and directly advised that the meaningful action emails and phone calls should go to the Rules Committee and to Members of Congress.

PERK’s formal letter to the Committee, this language grants blanket immunity under the guise of regulatory clarity. It is not reform. It is protection for corporations at the expense of Americans health.
