White House Responds to PERK’s National Religious Liberty Petition

More than 1,000 signatures and 61+ organizations stood behind the call - and the White House answered.

Dear PERK Members,

After PERK President Amy Bohn delivered a major letter backed by more than 1,000 public signatures and 61+ organizations, the White House issued an official response affirming religious freedom and faith-based protections.

PERK is proud to share an important update with our community: the White House has officially responded to PERK President Amy Bohn following her national advocacy letter sent to President Donald J. Trump, the White House, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and OCR. In that letter, PERK called for stronger federal action to protect religious liberty and education access for families across America. PERK’s letter was backed by supporters from 35 states, more than 61 organizations, and over 1,000 public signatures, reflecting a powerful nationwide call to defend parental rights, religious freedom, and children’s access to education.

In its outreach, PERK made clear that children are being denied access to education in some states, like California, because families do not have religious exemptions to vaccination requirements, and that these policies force families to choose between their faith and their children’s schooling. PERK urged the federal government to ensure that discretionary federal funds do not support educational institutions that deny sincerely held religious, philosophical, and conscientious beliefs.

The White House response recognizes the importance of religious freedom as a foundational American principle and highlights actions already taken by the Administration to protect faith, conscience rights, and religious liberty in public life. The response letter to Amy Bohn also signals that PERK’s message was received at the highest levels of government and that the concerns raised by families, faith leaders, and organizations across the country are being heard.

For PERK, this response is significant. This moment matters. It shows that when courageous citizens unite and speak with one voice, parents, faith leaders, citizens, and aligned organizations, their efforts can break through. PERK is honored to have helped lead this national effort and remains committed to advancing policies that protect religious liberty, parental sovereignty, bodily autonomy, civil rights, and every child’s right to an education. As this movement continues to grow, PERK will keep pressing forward to ensure that no family is forced to surrender deeply held beliefs and religious convictions in order to access basic educational opportunities.

PERK is honored to be one of the leaders, among other great organizations, standing in this movement. We are grateful to every signer, every partner organization, every donor, and every family who helped make this effort possible.

We will continue to defend religious liberty, medical freedom, civil rights, parental sovereignty, and every child's right to an education.

With gratitude,
PERK
